Big Sky Country, part I

Sorry for my lack of posts over the last week.  I've been in Montana and didn't have service for a good majority of the trip.  Unfortunately, this meant no posting while I was away.

I will say I was only partially excited to visit Montana; however, after we finally arrived I knew I was in a for a treat.  Montana is gorgeous!  I completely understand why they call it big sky country.  The natural beauty of the state is unbelievable and I think y'all should pack up your wagon right now and head out west for a couple of days.

Our first stop was Glacier National Park.  OMGorgeous!

We took the "going-to-the-sun road" all the way up to the top, crossed over the Continental Divide at Logan Pass and were able to see all the mountain peaks covered in snow.  Yes.  Snow.  In July.  Crazy, right?  In fact, Montana received so much snow this year the "going-to-the-sun road" only opened a week or so before our trip because the road was too dangerous for cars or hiking and covered with snow.

The mountain at the top of glacier.

In many places the snow was so high it was over my head.

D & I taking a pit stop on our way back down the mountain.

By the time we left the park it was late in the evening and we were all starving.  We drove to Polebridge for the night where we were staying at a quaint little Bed & Breakfast about 4 miles from the Canadian border.  Polebridge is a very small area and I didn't see a paved road the entire time I was there.  You also have no Internet access or cell phone service, but the scenery makes up for it.  You can look in all directions and see as far as your eyes will let you (hence the name big sky country).

The B&B was great!  I highly recommend it!

The Internet donation fund in Polebridge.  Maybe they'll have wifi next time I visit. :)

We had dinner at the only restaurant, the Northern Lights Saloon.  My burger was delish!

Montana was unusual because it doesn't get dark there until after 10:30 PM.  The sun is so high, even at 8:00 PM, you could probably get a sun burn.  It was wild.  The weather during our trip was perfect.  Hot and sunny, around the upper 70s/low80s every day...and at night it would get down to the low 40s.  It was crazy how fast the temperature would drop when the sun was not out, but it was so comfortable to be outside.  There was no humidity and no one was sweating.  It was amazing.
The only downfall was the bugs.  The mosquito's there are out of control.  We had on thin yoga pants the first two days and they would literally bite your legs through your pants pants.  I had to spray my pants with bug spray, but at that point it was a little too late.

The rest of the trip was a blast.  We went rafting, skeet shooting, saw some elk and had time to do a little shopping.  Stay tuned for part II of the trip...and just wait until you see what I bought.  I'll give you a hint...it was on my "want list."

Happy Friday and have a delightful weekend!

Mrs. D

Oh Kate!

Like every other female around the world, I too am obsessed with the Duchess of Cambridge.  I was instantly fascinated by Catherine Middleton in 2005 when she first emerged on the scene and became widely known as William's gorgeous girlfriend.  When they broke up for a few months in 2007 I was heartbroken.  Lucky for me the breakup didn't last long and soon William and Kate were seen traveling all over the world together again.

My obsession has gone to a ridiculous level ever since last year when the two announced they were finally engaged.  I was so excited you would've thought I had that gorgeous ring on my finger.  Kate does no wrong in my world.  She always looks so clean, chic and polished.  I love her style and often find myself wanting every piece of clothing, shoe and accessory we see her photographed in.  She makes royal life look and seem so "normal."

When I say I love everything Kate wears, I really mean it.  I love her classic style, elegance and grace.  She even makes a cowboy hat look chic and gorgeous.  It's true.  I want one too.  I pointed to these very pictures of the Duke and Duchess at the Calgary Stampede while we were in line at the grocery the other night and told Mr. D "I need one of those."  I think he agreed and said he does too.

(Side note: William definitely looks better in a hat.)

So what do you think of Kate's cowgirl chic?  I love it!

My Best Friend's Wedding

One month & one day ago, Kim & Joe tied the knot!
It was a gorgeous Palm Beach wedding.  The Bride was stunning (to say the least).  The Groom was dashing.  Everyone was smiling.  A few shed happy tears.  The band was rockin'.  And the reception was one big awesome party!

Goin' to the Chapel!  :)

There was no place I would have rather been and I was honored to be standing next to one of my favorite people on her big day.  Kim is often talked about on this blog; however, one thing y'all probably aren't aware of is Kim is the one responsible for introducing me to my handsome Groom, Mr. D.  That's right.  We owe it all to Kim!  I could go on and on about what an amazing friend Kim is to me and how I know she will be an incredible wife to Joe, but I will spare y'all the mushy details and instead share some of my favorite photos from the event.  (By the way, I want you all to know I managed to make it all the way through my toast without bursting into hysterical tears.  Quite an accomplishment for me.)

Now, for your viewing pleasure, I present to you Kim & Joe's Wedding!
(I'm aware these are a ton of photos, but considering I took over 1,000 that weekend, this is nothing!)
The Dress.

Our gorgeous Bride.

Clearly, we were in our own world.  Typical.

Fabulous Fall TV; Ready, Set, TiVo!

There are two shows I can't wait to watch this fall.  The Playboy Club on NBC and Pan Am on ABC.  I love all things vintage!  My parents used to swear I was "born in the wrong era" when I was a kid.  I always preferred to watch old movies and classic TV...and the fashion of these era's was even better.

I can't decide which show I'm more looking forward to.  Both look super awesome and totally made for me.  I couldn't be more excited for fall TV this year!

Can't wait to see all the scandals go down on this new prime time show.
Watch a preview of Playboy Club here:

Pan Am stars Christina Ricci.
I think she will make the perfect Pan Am stewardess.

Any shows in the fall lineup you're excited about?  I'm not sure about you but my Tivo is set and ready!
(We all know I'm obsessed with Mad Men, which won't be back until Feb 2012.  I'll need something to fill in until then.)

I'm Back Just In Time For Harry Potter Friday!

Hey y'all!
Summer sure is going by fast isn't it?  Can you believe it's already the middle of June?  And can you believe it's been over a month since I've blogged?  I know, I know.  I've been a very bad blogger this summer.  I have absolutely no excuse other than Mr. D and I have been incredibly busy over the last two months and something had to give.  Unfortunately, it was blogging.  I just didn't have the time to keep up with it all.

Don't worry your pretty little heads though.  I'm back and better than ever after my mini-blogging hiatus.  I can't wait to catch y'all up on everything!  Fill you in with the highlights of our 2 year Anniversary last month, my best friend's wedding in Palm Beach, 4th of July, and all our happenings in between.  We have so much to chat about!

Aren't you glad it's Friday?  I'm over the moon to have a nice, (hopefully) relaxing weekend in my near future.  It's been a long week.  You know what makes today even better?  It's HARRY POTTER FRIDAY!  I will admit I am a Harry Potter fan.  The books were beyond wonderful and now the final movie has been released so we can all go enjoy our favorite Potter characters one last time.  It's the end of an era and a little bitter sweet for me.  When I read the final book I definitely shed a few tears.  It was sad at times and I was disappointed for my Hogwarts adventure to be over.  I will probably feel the same after I see the final Potter flick.

Are any of you Harry Potter fans?  I hope I'm not alone in my love for the J.K. Rowling novels.  Did anyone go to the midnight showing last night?  Mr. D doesn't share my love for the fantastic world of Harry Potter and his friends, so I need to find someone to go see the movie with.  All my fellow HP loving friends live in Florida and my Sister is out of town until the end of summer.  I may be hitting up the theatre solo style (while sporting my Harry Potter spectacles, of course!).

Seeing this makes me sad.

So, here are a few Harry Potter funnies to make up for it:

He may not love Mr. Potter like I do, but at least he will humor me and my charades.
Me and Mr. D, circa 2005, after the release of the sixth book.

I hope y'all have a lovely Harry Potter Friday and a very happy weekend!
More catching up soon!

Mrs. D

You're Just Too Good To Be True

Not only am I celebrating my 100th post today (WaHoo!), but I'm also celebrating something I'm even more proud of.  My 2nd Wedding Anniversary to my beloved Mr. D.  To be perfectly honest, these last two years have been the most amazing years of my life and have flown by so fast I don't even know what to think.
Two years ago today Mr. D and I got all dressed up and headed to the Chapel.

...and we left together after reciting our vows.  Happier than ever.

We all rode on a big old truck and waved like we were in a parade.  :)

You're Just Too Good To Be True.
Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You.
You'd Be Like Heaven To Touch.
I Wanna Hold You So Much.
At Long Last Love Has Arrived.
And I Thank God I'm Alive.
You're Just Too Good To Be True.
Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You.

We danced our first dance!

Smiled A LOT.

Danced some more.

And had the most amazing day celebrating with all our loved ones under one roof.
It was the most wonderful day I've ever had and I will never forget it.

I would like to say Happy Anniversary and thank you to the man who loves me, takes care of me, challenges me to be a better person, makes me laugh all.the.time, spoils me, and is the most incredible husband I could ever dream of.  My darling Mr. D, you are my everything and I am so blessed to have you by my side on this journey we call life.  We are the lucky ones!

For Eternity,
Mrs. D
