Oscar Fashion - Year Of The Bling!

Was it just me, or was this the year of the BLING?  The majority of my favorite dresses were all blinged out with sequins.  Bling was definitely this years winning trend for me.  Loved it!!!

My overall fashion winner?  Mandy Moore.  She wins by default because she had not one, but TWO stunning dresses!!!
Mandy in her red carpet Monique lhuillier gown.
Elegant, classy & stunning.

Mandy rocked in this blue gown during her performance singing Tangled nominated song.
Not sure who this dress is by.  Anyone?

And now on to the other top fashion wins.
We'll start with the rest of the blinged out fashion winners...

Hilary Swank in this gorgeous feathered Gucci.

Michelle Williams in Chanel.

Amy Adams in L'Wren Scott.

Halle Berry in Marchesa

Gwyneth Paltrow looked like the Oscar statuette in Calvin Klein.

My other favorites...
LOVED Barbie Doll looking Reese Witherspoon.
Keeping it classic in this white-trimmed Armani Prive.

Hot couple award!!! Both got it right!
Camila Alves in Kaufman Franco & Matthew McConaughey in Dolce & Gabbana.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab.

Justin Timberlake brought sexy back in his Tom Ford tux.

My Award for Best Risk Taker.....
Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana.
While not my favorite red carpet look, definitely my favorite look of all the "risk takers."

The back of the dress was my favorite.

My Honorable Mention award....
Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa.
Love the dress/shoes/hair.  Also love how she kept it age appropriate.

While I'm not sure how I felt about our Oscar hosts last night (maybe I was just too excited about the idea of Anne and James hosting together and had the bar set too high?  No pun intended, James Franco.) the pics below were my two favorite Anne Hathaway looks of the night.  Then again, Anne always looks amazing!

Who else looks this cute in a tux?
I looove her blingin', custom Brian Atwood heels.

The big hair.  The glittery flapper fringe.  Swoon.  LOVE it!

The only person I was really disappointed in last night was Nicole Kidman.  Ewwwww.  What was she thinking?  I'm not even going to dignify that fashion yuck with a photo in this post.  You'll just have to look it up.  It was a major miss.

What did you think of the Oscar fashion last night?  Any top fashion wins I missed?  Who did you love and hate?  What about James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosting?

xoxo,
Mrs. D

  2. great pics girl :) i thought the fashion was great last night. I personally don't like ANne Hathaway and I felt like James seemed a little nervous throughout the entire thing. I loved Reese Witherspoons green jewelry with her outfit! so fab! xo

  3. I was in love with that second Mandy Moore dress!! I loved the color...wish she would have worn that on the red carpet. My hands-down favorite was Celine. I thought she looked gorgeous!!

And I totally agree on the James and Anne hosting gig. I thought it would have been better...but James just didn't bring his A-game...or really any game at all. Its like he was bored or had some place better to be. I kind of wish they had Anne and Hugh Jackman do it together...I liked him last year.

And my favorite moments...either when Melissa Leo dropped the f-bomb or when they added the T-pain app to Harry Potter and Twilight to make them into musicals...made me giggle:)

  4. I loved the second Mandy Moore dress! Gorgeous! I love Anne Hathaway and thought she was adorable- though she and Franco just didn't seem to host that well together? I can't quite put my finger on it but the two together didn't do it for me. She definitely rocked the tux- as well as everything she wore. And her hair, ahhh!

My favorite dresses were worn by Camilla Alves and Halle Barry, for sure. They both looked stunning! I also agree with you on Hailee Steinfeld- very age appropriate yet still red carpet worthy! I always hate seeing younger actresses looking too mature at events of this nature. And- you're so very right about Nicole Kidmann- what was she thinking?

  6. Just about to fire up the DVR and watch it! From what I've heard, Anne and James were a miss as hosts. My best dressed award goes to Mila, love LOVE her dress!

  8. I wasn't a big fan of a few of the hairstyles--especially Amy Adams, who I usually love. I was mesmerized by Anne's blingy shoes with the tux--love love love them! I was pretty disappointed overall with Anne and James hosting, but I do think it was a good risk to take asking young stars to host.

  9. Couldn't agree more about Nicole Kidman's dress...FASHION FAIL! It made her hips/thighs look HUGE and she is TINY...YUCK.
