Going To The Chapel

As I sit here watching the Royal Wedding this morning, I can't help but get emotional.  This wedding brings up so many memories for me.  First, I immediately think of Diana.  As a young girl I was always in awe of Diana and my mother loved her dearly and would often talk about her or watch specials about her on TV.  I can still remember hearing the tragic news as a sophomore in high school.  It rattled me to the core and I remember my Mom crying for days as she watched it all splash across the media.

Then in 2001, I studied abroad at Cambridge and discovered how much I love British culture and life.  If I ever had to live outside the United States, England would be my first stop.
I can still remember the sunny, May 2005 day I stood outside Buckingham Palace with my dear friend Kim.  We stared up in wonder and could not help but think about what it would be like to call a place like Buckingham "home."

As a child and especially as a teen, I swore I would grow up and marry Prince WIlliam.  I ended up with the prince fit for me, my Mr. D, but I must say I do approve of Kate Middleton to marry my beloved William.  :)
I love the men William and Harry have grown up to become and I think all these years later Diana would be proud of her boys.

I am so so so excited for William and Kate today!  They appear to have such a wonderful and loving relationship, with strong heads on their shoulders.  I set the alarm for 4 AM and turned the television on as soon as my alarm sounded.  I have been waiting for this day for months.  I am absolutely intrigued, inspired and obsessed with Miss Catherine Middleton, soon to be Princess of Whales.  She is classy,  beautiful and seemingly perfect.  I cannot wait to see the dress today!  I know it will be perfect in every way.  Will it be Alexander McQueen?  I certainly hope so!

Now you must excuse me...Kate is in the car and on her way...and I'm sitting in here in tears.  (I'm pretty sure Mr. D thinks I've lost my mind, by the way.)  Yes, I'm a sap.  I love weddings and this wedding is the biggest wedding of my lifetime, other than my own wedding.  SWOON!  Kate looks amazing.  It's a McQueen after all and absolutely PERFECT!

Sorry this post is all over the place.  I'm in a emotional, yet happy, state and my thoughts are going a mile a minute.  I hope you're up and watching this history being made too!

CHEERS TO WILL & KATE!  Mr. D & I wish you a lifetime of love, health and happiness to together.

Mrs. D

The Sisterhood Of The Bachelorette Hat

Several years ago, what started as a random prank developed into a sentimental, crazy and fun tradition amongst my best friends.

If you've ever driven on I-75 in the central Florida area you will know the landscaping is pretty much plastered with billboards for one "establishment" in the Micanopy area....over and over again.  This same "establishment" is also pretty close to the Gainesville area, and is often joked about amongst Florida students.

It was Rachel's Bachelorette weekend.  As she was opening her gifts from the ladies a random white bag was discovered.  The bag simply had "wear me tonight" printed on it in unrecognizable handwriting.  No name in the "from" column.  When Rachel opened the bag, she discovered a (insert sarcasm) lovely camouflage trucker hat from previously mentioned "establishment."  All of us were cracking up in hysterical laughter.  Who had pulled such a prank and delivered the bag to the party unnoticed?  Seriously.  Who did it?

Rachel was such a good sport about the whole thing and guess what she ended up wearing for her Bachelorette night out....that's right THE HAT.  And this is how it all began.

Fast forward to my Bachelorette event a year later.  As I'm opening gifts from my friends, wrapped up in pretty little party bags, the last thing on my mind was the hat Rachel had worn.  Much to my surprise, guess what I found waiting for me in one of my gift bags....that's right, THE HAT.

The next Bride to be to wear our gorgeous hat was Dana.  She acted surprised...but I think she had to know THE HAT was waiting for her in one of those bags.

On and on the tradition has gone and the hat has been passed down from Bride to Bride.  Kim is our current Bride and her Bachelorette weekend is quickly approaching.  She must realize THE HAT is coming for her too.  After all, it's tradition.  OUR tradition.  No matter how silly and stupid we must look all dressed up with our Bride parading around in a camouflage trucker hat from a particular "establishment", we don't care.  It's just part of the fun.  Something to look back on and laugh at.

It's the Sisterhood of the Bachelorette Hat.  And it looks so chic too!
It's officially been worn by Rachel in Jacksonville, me in Atlanta, Dana in Nashville...and it just might make an appearance in Charleston, South Carolina pretty soon.  I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.  :)

Do you and your friends have fun traditions?  We most certainly do!
The hat is still a mystery all these years later who really brought it to the party.  Was it you?

And wanted to share it with all of you.
I hope you love it too!
And...I really think it's the truth.

In An MmmmBop You're Gone

Last night I was overjoyed to see three of my teen crushes on Dancing With The Stars.  In fact, had Hanson not been performing on DWTS last night I probably would have changed the channel and watched S&tC reruns instead...but the thought of more Hanson kept me tuning in and took me back to 1996 with just one word.  MmmmBop!

Hanson now.
Still pretty cute if you ask me. :)

Hanson then.
I definitely had this poster in my room.

I used to rock out to these guys all the time, so seeing them perform last night really made my (otherwise boring) night.  I couldn't believe how much they have all grown up.  Who knew they were all married?  With kids!  Wow.  Then again, I guess we've all changed a lot in fifteen years.

If you're interested in watching Hanson perform on DWTS last night click here and watch the video.  Do it.  You know you want to.

Another Monday, Another Weekend Recap

As usual, a weekend recap of Keeneland and Easter via photos I snapped this weekend.

Mimosa-ing with Nan on Friday.

A Kate Middleton sighting.
Who knew she would be at Keeneland the weekend before her wedding?

Finally got Joy out to Keeneland this spring. :)

Sis got "poofed" by the one & only Pinkloulou when we went to powder our nose.

Cousins in da club(house)!

My Easter loot.  :)
Big thanks to my Momma for the cute new watch
& Aunt Lisa for the adorable basket FULL of awesome goodies!
(yes, my basket had a "born to blog" Christmas ornament.)

This rounds out my Keeneland season.  Saturday was my last day at Keeneland until the Fall Meet.
I hope y'all had a very blessed Easter weekend.
