Confessions. Embarrassing Confessions.

It's Friday and I'm coming clean.  I'm going to let you in on a few of my recent thoughts.  They are embarrassing and I will probably regret it, but here goes nothing.

I am DYING to read the new Sweet Valley Confidential book.  Yes, I know.  I'm old and should not want to read this....but I grew up with the twins reading about the twins and it will probably keep me awake at night for the rest of my life if I don't find out what happened.  I've decided I'm going to do it.  I'm going to read the book.  After all, I don't want to have any excuses for lack of quality sleep.  :)  Besides, I can order the book for my Kindle and then I won't have to be embarrassed when I whip my Sweet Valley book out in public, because no one will know what I'm reading.  Problem solved.

While we are on the subject of Sweet Valley, my all time favorite Sweet Valley books were the Sweet Valley Saga books.  Did any of y'all read them?  They were my favorite because they were all about the Wakefield family tree and life before Elizabeth and Jessica were born.  They were all set in different era's and told the stories of the older relatives in Elizabeth and Jessica's life.  There were four of them.  The Wakefield's of Sweet Valley, The Wakefield Legacy, The Fowler's of Sweet Valley and The Patman's of Sweet Valley.  I'm also debating digging these books out of storage and re-reading them looking at the pretty covers.  I know I have them packed up in a box of old books some place.

I really want to see Scream 4.  Ridiculous, I know.  I remember seeing the first movie in theatres as a high school freshman....and then the 2nd and 3rd Scream thrillers.  It would be such a shame not see the fourth one, right?  I'm sure the storyline and character's will totally take me back to adolescence.  I'm also sure I will be terrified throughout the entire movie, will have clammy palms and jump out of my seat multiple times.

Whew!  It feels so much better to let all that out.  And if you happen to see me with my nose stuck in my Kindle...please don't ask what I'm reading.  :)

Hope your weekend is a HOPPY one!  Happy Easter y'all!

Hell on Wheels

We are tough.  We ride bikes.  No!  Not those kind of bikes!  I'm talking preppy cruisin'.  Not leather and pony tails.  Duuuuh.

Last year, as a Birthday surprise for moi, Mr. D and I got cute vintage inspired cruisers.  Now that warm weather is finally here, it's time for us to pull our little two wheeled babies out of winter storage and start riding again.  :)  Last summer we rode these beauties all over town.  So...if you happen to see our bikes parked outside a local establishment, make sure you pop in and say "hello."

Most often you will find us parked outside of Orange Leaf, Josie's, Suggins, Kroger (when we only need a few items), Buddy's and Starbuck's.  You can usually hear us coming from a mile away, because someone (ahem, ahem, Mr. D) likes to ring their bicycle bell like an obnoxious six year old...and then laugh uncontrollably every time.  (I bet our neighbors hate us.)

Perhaps we should consider joining the Lexington Hell's Angels?

If only my basket were big enough to hold McGruff, our little furbaby.  We tried once...but he's just too long.  I guess we'll just have to get him a doggy side car this year!  Note to Mr. D: McGruff needs a side car ASAP.

Look for us scootin' around town...or better yet, join us!

Braids Are All The Rage

Is it just me...or are braids all the rage when it comes to hair these days.
Now, I'm not talking about our beloved Pippy Longstocking and her cutie pie pigtails.  I'm talking chic braid inspired tresses.  Check out these photos for some hairspiration.  I'm dying to try it!  Such a fun look for spring and summer.

Doesn't Diane Kruger always look so amazing?
She's one of my favorite Hollywood ladies.
(and you know I love her man Josh Jackson even more than I love her!)

Have any of y'all tried a new braided look?  Any helpful hints for me?

Granny Smith & Feta Salad

One of my most requested recipes is for my Granny Smith and Feta Salad.  Actually, it's usually the dish most friends, family and co-workers request I make and bring to any potluck event.  I made this same salad for the shower I hosted a few weeks ago and received several emails asking for the recipe.  Due to the popularity and ease of this delicious salad I thought I would post the recipe here and share it with all of you.  :)

Ingredients: 1 head of leafy lettuce (I usually use a romaine or some other type of fancy lettuce), 2 large Granny Smith apples (peeled and chopped), 4-6 oz of crumbled feta cheese, half bag of Sea Salt flavored bagel chips (broken).

Poppy Seed Dressing:
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 Tb. poppy seeds
1 1/2 teaspoon minced onion
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire
1/4 teaspoon paprika
~Wisk together all ingredients~

Instructions: Place lettuce in serving bowl; add apple, cheese and bagel chips.  Add poppy seed dressing, tossing to coat.  Serve immediately.

Definitely give this one a try.  It's so easy and very yummy!  It's a great summer salad for all your upcoming brunches, bar-b-que's and get togethers.

Win, Place or Show!

This weekend was another weekend packed full of Keeneland fun!
One of our best friends, we'll call him Raffy, came up to Lexington for a long weekend to enjoy a little bluegrass fun and a Saturday at the races.  I always love when I get to introduce our Lexington friends to our Florida friends and this weekend was no exception.  Raffy fit right in and by the end of the weekend everyone was hoping he would 1) extend his vacation and stay longer and 2) pack up and move to the bluegrass.

Here is a weekend recap, in photos.  :)

The guys during our pre-Keeneland brunch.

The ladies.
Keeneland was freezing, which is why we look like a trench coat mafia.

(these faces may or may not have been after we won some moo-la on a race)

I shared a hug with this beautiful girl...who passed the Bar! Woot.Woot.

We made it out Saturday night in the cold/rain.

And finally got a pic of the guys (after about 4 tries).

And Mr. D & I went back to Keeneland on Sunday - when the weather was much better.

All in all, it was a great weekend and everyone had a terrific time celebrating Raffy's visit and Katherine's passing of the Bar Exam.  :)  Now onward to one last Keeneland weekend and another visit from a different Florida friend next weekend.  Whoo hoo!

Hope your weekend was stellar too!
